week 18

Recently a college student in California was the victim of a "fire in the hole." He was working the drive thru at boston market when a customer through a bowl of spinach that was 180 degrees, at his face. He suffered 2nd degree burns all over his face and neck. The kid recently turned himself in and was booked for suspicion to commit battery.

I think fire in the hole is a terrible prank to play on someone especially when its 180 degrees food your throwing in their face. These people are working to serve you food and you repay them by throwing food in their face. I think this prank is immoral and cowardly and police should act to prevent this from happening.

week 17

Scientists in New York are reporting early success at transforming one kind of specialized cell into another. For example, if someone has heart problems, doctors can take cells from their liver and use them on their heart. Doctors have gotten stem cells to revert to a state resembling embryonic stem cells which can be transformed into any type of cell in the body.

I think its amazing seeing the future of our medical technology. With this discovery many lives can be saved and not at the cost of a childs life such as in stem cell research. They say its still going to take a while to perfect this new medical discovery but I believe with proper funding and research that it will be perfected in ten years.

week 14 about obama speech

In the interview with Barack Obama he confesses that he lost touch with the voters. He said he realized this after the senate elections in which the majority of people voted on were Republican. He said that he focused to hard on one thing that he forgot to take care of all the other problems going on.

I don't have any sympathy for Obama. He bit off more than he can chew when he was running for President. He promised all these changes to the voters that he alone could not achieve. He's been the President for almost two years and has not accomplished anything he said he was going to except the healthcare bill which angered many americans.

week 14?

The Kokomo Police Department is still investigating a single car accident that claimed the life of James Bell,95. At 5:55 P.M. Mr. Bell crashed his car into the Faith Road Tabernacle Church on Faith Road. He died at 3:07 at St. Josephs hospital as a result of his injuries sustained from the crash.

This event is very unfortunate. However it raises the question, "Should elderly people be able to drive?" I believe that once people reach the age of 60, they should have to take the driving test every ten years to insure their still able to navigate a car safely. Old people are very scary drivers and I would feel alot safer knowing that the ones driving a car have recently passed a driving test.

Recently on amazon.com a book called The Pedophiles Guide to Love and Pleasure was forsale. This sparked a major outrage on the internet. People were threatning to boycott the retailer. This book offered pedophiles advice on how to get away with commiting acts of pedophilia. Amazon is said to have guidelines banning certain materials deemed offensive yet they let this book appear on their website.

I think its disgusting that anyone would write and publish a book on how to get away with being a pedophile. I don't get how amazon.com would let someone sell a book about that on their website. They say they have guidelines banning certain materials deemed offensive yet they let a book about how to get away with pedophilia on their website. I think this book should be banned everywhere and that they should track down and moniter the guy that wrote it.

Obama

Obama recently admitted in a meeting last week that he lost touch with the voters. He admitted this after the results of the congressional elections. The majority of the winners of the elections were Republican which shows the voters declining support of Obama. Obama apologized for not being able to get done any of the changes he promised voters in the elections.

I respect Obama for publically admitting he messed up. I do agree with him when he says he messed up because he has not carried out any of the changes he promised voters. All he's passed is some terrible health care reform. I believe Obama did it to himself because he promised voters things that he alone could not accomplish.

IPS vaccinations

Over 1,000 IPS students are being kept out of school over missed vaccinations. These student's had a deadline to get their vaccinations for school and if they didnt't meet it they weren't aloud to attend school. Each studen't is given a green sticker to put on their school I.D. to prove they have had their vaccinations. So many students are missing from school that class is being cancelled.

I agree that students should not be allowed on school property without proper vaccinations. A school environment is very prone to the spread of diseases because of the number of students in one area. I do however believe it's ridiculous that that many student's are missing school just over their negligance to get a shot. I think student's are intentionally not getting vaccinated in order to miss school.

Sex offender trick or treat meeting

Halloween is a time for kids to dress up in their scary costumes and roam through the neighborhood collecting candy from neighbors. However, there a certain dangers that cause parents to be weary of letting their kids go alone. These dangers are of course sex offenders. In an effort to deter these parents worries the Indiana department of corrections is requiring some convicted child sex offenders to attend a meeting during trick or treat hours.

I agree with this idea of deterence. I believe this will keep the children safer and put some parents concerns at ease. I don't believe these sex offenders should be allowed to be home during a holiday where kids come to your door asking for candy. I think this is a good idea and it will prevent future dangers kids may face as a result of sex offenders during Halloween.
