The Kokomo Police Department is still investigating a single car accident that claimed the life of James Bell,95. At 5:55 P.M. Mr. Bell crashed his car into the Faith Road Tabernacle Church on Faith Road. He died at 3:07 at St. Josephs hospital as a result of his injuries sustained from the crash.
This event is very unfortunate. However it raises the question, "Should elderly people be able to drive?" I believe that once people reach the age of 60, they should have to take the driving test every ten years to insure their still able to navigate a car safely. Old people are very scary drivers and I would feel alot safer knowing that the ones driving a car have recently passed a driving test.
I don't know about taking the test every ten years. I have a hard time believing that all senior citizens would be in favor of this. However, I do agree that senior citizens can pose dangers to driving. The danger is not only to others, but to themselves like this tragedy shows.
ReplyDeleteI believe that their should be a test every ten years because if a senior can't pass a simple driving test then they pose a threat to other drivers and people. Besides if they were to get in a wreck, since they are old injuries could prove fatal for them.
